Shapton Diamond Flattening Plate

"I am a hand bookbinder and require a reliable sharpening system when paring leather for binding. I have spent many years and lots of money looking for the ultimate sharpening stones and equipment that last and do the job well. I had purchased a Shapton stone about a year ago and have been very pleased with it, but it became uneven and engrained with dirt, and basically unusable. I thought that was it, but then discovered this lapping plate, the price did shock me if I'm honest, but I took the plunge and ordered one, along with a stone holder and some other grade Shapton stones. Wow!!! I couldn't be more impressed, my old stone after 10 minutes lapping is now as good as new again. The stone holder is remarkable and holds the stones perfectly still and rigid while sharpening and all my blades are now beautifully sharp. I highly recommend this lapping plate and in fact all Shapton products. Not to mention that Classic Hand Tools were very helpful with advice prior to shipping and then shipped the same day at no extra cost. Thank you."
