Plough Plane Project
Product Description
So, this grubbly plane, like Fraser, needs a good clean.
Beech, with brass tips, escutcheons and depth stop screw.
You do not need to put on the marigolds or find a buffing wheel to clean it up. Nothing too heavy is needed , just a bit of tender loving care with a bit of fine wire wool to clean off a few idle paint marks, years of dust layers and a minor amount of surface rust. We think this plane is about 200 years old so you would look a bit grubby if uncared for as long as this plane has been (no such excuse for Fraser though!).
The plane is in good overall condition underneath the grime. It was made by WILLMORE in Birmingham, England which dates it back to the early 19th century - in the reigns of George III & George IV (source: Goodmans British Planemakers).
The original iron that came with the plane is a No 2 size.
If there are no takers, Mike will clean it up in the spring and re-launch with before and after photos just to prove how you, with a bit of tender loving care, could have brought this plane back to its former glory in no time at all. He will not do the same to Fraser!
