Lie-Nielsen Honing Guide

"I used the Eclipse guide for many years before just sharpening by hand. I now have the Lie Nielson guide with, at the moment, all the jaws except the angled ones. I don't think I'll go back, except for sharpening on my diamond plates at coarser grits for which I still use the Eclipse guide. This is because Lie Nielson's site advises against using their guide on diamond stones, a fact not made abundantly clear elsewhere. I reserve the LN guide for use on Arkansas hard black and surgical black stones. No doubt it's also ideal on water stones. But it's a marvellous tool which will undoubtedly outlast me."
