Japanese Hand Tools
At Classic Hand Tools we have been involved with selling good quality Japanese hand tools for nearly 2 decades. A fact finding trip with visits to small artisanal makers (lots and lots of tea drinking and sitting on the floor in very dark forges) and a high tech saw manufacturer whetted the appetite to bring a selection of tools to our customer base.
Sadly many of the heralded makers have now passed and our selection has reduced somewhat. There is now more "mass production" of tools but we still stock a good selection of hand tools which are definitely a cut above the normal Japanese DIY standard which tends to flood the market in the UK.
The Toishi Ohishi waterstones have been a recent addition to our stable (but at least 6 years ago now!) and these were endorsed heavily by our friends at Lie Nielsen Toolworks when they put them through their exactly paces.
So apologies for the slighly limited range of chisels in particular but we do try to keep our offerings as best quality as we can. The range of Japanese pull saws we hold in stock will cater for most customers requirements, we have not really changed this offering much in 20 years due to their popularity.
