This vise has rugged, machined, double guide rods and a single-lead Acme screw.
The regular front vise is 7" × 14¾" overall with a 7/8" dia. screw and clamping capacity of 8¼" (less the thickness of your wooden jaws).

Veritas Quick-Release Wonder Dog
This version of the Wonder Dog has a fast-acting cam mechanism to speed up adjustments. You just slide the head against the workpiece, then throw the lever to apply clamping force.
