Chris Pye Fishtail Gouges

Short fishtail just means the end is splayed rather than with a straight gouge (consistent profile along the body) or allongee (splay starts from the shoulder of the carving tool to the cutting edge).

Lightweight and with beautifully forged short fishtail shapes there are 7 gouges in the full set (but we rarely seem to have the full set available as our French friends at the Auriou forge are beset by production proplems). These were designed by Chris Pye and are a lovely example of how hand forged tools, made in a traditional manner possess a delicacy that few manufacturers can match.
