Oscar Rush Small Bowl Adze

Product Description

A hand forged 30mm diameter hand adze with a compound sweep profile to the cutting edge (more of a U profile). 

The head weight is approximately 450g with a 210mm - 215mm long (just over 8'') hand carved, faceted, kin dried ash handle.

The leather adze cover is made by Oscar using Italian leather with solid brass rivets (these are much stronger than cap rivets).

This adze has been carefully designed for shaping utensils from tiny scoops to small and medium bowls. 

If striking the poll, do so with a wooden mallet (not a steel hammer).

Please note each of these tools are forged, ground and handled by hand which makes each of these beautifully functional edge tools unique.  

There will be slight variations between each tool which is part of their beauty but the crucial curves and alignment are consistent for each tool.

These tools are made in small batches by artisan blacksmith Oscar Rush.

These axes were made widely available through Classic Hand Tools in the spring of 2024. As anticipated, there has been strong demand world wide for these adzes as well as Oscar's other hand forged tools.

Apart from axes and small hand adzes, Classic Hand Tools have commissioned Oscar to make some other edge tools which will make their appearances later on in 2025.
