Chris Pye Recommended Tools

Chris Pye is an internationally renowned master carver. He is determined to bring the joy of carving to the masses and as a teacher and author he is uniquely placed to offer first class instruction to all carvers, whatever their level.

How can this be achieved? Well probably the best way is for the man himself to teach you, one to one in his workshop on the English/Welsh border.

Or you can subscribe to his woodcarving channel which he has painstakingly created jointly with his lovely wife Carrie. Literally dozens of tutorials are available for you to access for a very reasonable monthly fee (no we are not on commission).

Chris worked with an internationally renowned manufacturer of tools that still use hand forging techniques to produce very fine tools similar to the old Addis & Herring carving tools of yesteryear.  That's Auriou Toolworks in France and whilst producing a superb initial range of tools they've fallen behind on the project a bit and they are a few years behind demand for Chris's tools - more the shame because they are beauties. 

So as a big fan of these tools and an early collaborator in the range Classic Hand Tools cling to the hope that full sets may become available soon. Watch this space!
