A skew chisel is a tool which repays practise with excellent results. The best, but sometimes the most daunting tool for planing spinle work and with practise, cutting clean beads and fine details.
The first skews were made from rectangular bar. Professionals then groudn a rounded edge to make tool rolling easier when cutting beads. Manufacturers then made a rounded (rolled) edge version, then an oval one, then a round one. They all work well but will cut a ragged thread if you get careless!
Available in two sizes 1/2'' (13mm) and 3/4'' (19mm).
